Romans 12:1-2 (New King James Version)
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God,which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
God wants us to acknowledge that we are not citizens of this world, but citizens of Heaven just passing through this world to our home. As citizens of heaven, we cannot afford to conform to this world (Conform meaning to be statically comfortable in the mindset of the world). If we are not careful as Christians, we can get so comfortable living in this world that we eventually start to think and make decisions like it. Its like pouring water into a bowl and putting it in the freezer for few hours. It will come out taking the shape of that bowl. We have been placed in this world by God for a purpose and that can only be achieved when we refuse to conform to the world but be transformed into the image of Christ.
This transformation happens by renewing our mind. The mind is like the computer of the body and being in the world programs your mind to take certain actions in different situations. This mind like the computer needs to be re-programmed so it can function like the mind of Christ. The only way that this can happen is by studying the word of God so you can naturally exhibit the nature of Christ in you. Phil. 2:5 - 8 and 4: 8.
The Apostle Paul prayed that Christ would be formed in us; Gal. 4:19 "My little children, for whom I labour in birth again until Christ be formed in you"

The nature of Christ in our lives as Christians has to be so strong in such a way that people will wonder what our source of Joy, peace and continuous calm is.
You know, we cannot sit in our comfort zones taking and enjoying the benefits there of while creation and the world around us is crying desperately for the manifestations (to make tangible, to bring to bare, to demonstrate) of the sons of God. Rm. 8: 18-19
As believers in Christ Jesus you need to be outstanding in every area of our lives, we being the light and the salt of the world, bringing meaning and purpose and flavour to the lives of the many people we encounter each and everyday. "let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds, and praise our father in heaven". ie Matt.5: 16
NB. You are a new creation, a brand new man, old thing are past away and you are Born again from the very moment you believed in your heart that Jesus is the son of God and confessed Him as your personal Lord and saviour. Hence the need to be leading a distinct way of life different from what we used to be before our relationship with Christ.

Prayer: God help me shine for you as I study and meditate on your word daily so the Holy Spirit can transform my mind into yours. Amen
